Memo for October 14
The first in a twice-a-week updates, looking back, looking ahead, but mostly looking Up.
Before we get into yesterday, please don’t forget to pray our prayers of the week and to reach out to our members. If you don’t have their contact, ask someone for it.
If You Missed
Speaking of Sunday…
This past Sunday, we explored the urgency of sharing the gospel in light of Revelation 14’s depiction of God’s judgment. We looked at how the fall of Babylon serves as a warning, not only for nations like ancient Rome but for our own country as well. John’s vision calls us to examine our hearts for spiritual idolatry and sexual immorality, and to bring our struggles into the light, seeking help from one another.
In Revelation 14, the stark reality of eternal torment for those who reject Christ stands in contrast to the victory awaiting those who follow Him. As believers, we are reminded that the world is ripe for harvest, but we must take action. I shared six key questions (below) to help us identify those in our lives who may not know Christ. These questions serve as a guide to pray, build relationships, and share the good news.
If we find that our hearts lack a deep concern for the lost, we must ask God to stir us and ignite that passion. The vision of God’s wrath, vividly portrayed as a wine press of blood, is a sober reminder of what’s at stake. We can stay comfortable, but be faithful in helping those around us avoid eternal separation from God. We must go ALL-IN.
Please take time this week to reflect on these questions and seek the Lord’s guidance in how to reach those He’s placed in your life.
Is there anyone in my immediate family who hasn't surrendered their life to Christ?
Is there anyone in my extended family?
Who out of my friends are lost?
Who are my neighbors? Am I sure each of them know Jesus?
What about my coworkers?
Is there anyone I see regularly enough where we know each others’ names? Am I positive they know Christ?
Please pray through our prayers of the week. Reach out to these families to let them know you did.
